John S. Fisher, AIA
Before moving to Asheville in 1987, John worked for eight years with large firms in Atlanta, where he gained experience with a variety of commercial projects and large developments. In 1992, after spending five years as a project manager for several institutional and commercial buildings with Spaceplan, he founded Fisher Architects. His 24 years of professional work include extensive experience with educational, medical, retail, resort, residential, office, and mixed-use projects. John received his professional architecture degree with honors from the University of Tennessee in 1979. He is currently licensed in five states and is certified by NCARB to obtain a license in any state.
Amy C. R. Erde, AIA
After receiving her bachelor's degrees in Architecture and Building Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY in 1988, Amy has worked for various small firms in Norfolk VA, Charleston, SC and Asheville, NC. Since 1991, she has been licensed in the State of South Carolina, where she worked for six years at McKellar And Associates Architects, doing both commercial and military work. In 1996, Amy and her family moved to Asheville, where she worked at Rogers Associates Architects for 6 years, doing a wide variety of commercial work ranging from churches, office buildings to automobile dealerships. Amy joined Fisher Architects in 2002 where she intends to continue her 15-year career with a wide array of challenging commercial projects. Amy is certified by NCARB to obtain a license in any state.
Eugene Britton, AIA
Eugene Britton joined Fisher Architects in 2007 following a move from Atlanta where he was a sole-practitioner since 1995 - Atlanta becoming his home upon the completion of his BEDA degree from North Carolina State University. While in Georgia, he became active in neighborhood land use issues - ultimately serving on the city’s Board of Zoning Adjustment. With the support of his wife Susan, he scaled back his practice in 1996 to earn a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Tennessee finally satisfying NCARB certification requirements. He holds current licenses in North Carolina, Georgia and South Carolina and served on the AIA Asheville Executive Committee in 2008 as its Programs Director.
Pete Booth, Assoc. AIA
Pete has been working for Fisher Architects since receiving his professional architecture degree from the University of Tennessee in 1995. Arriving as an intern directly out of school, he has developed into a project manager with a high level of client contact. He has gained experience with all phases of commercial, retail, residential, and business projects in his eight years at the firm.
Growing up in Poland as the son of an architect, Jakub Markulis gained experience at a young age by helping his father. Before receiving his master's degree from the Krakow University of Technology in 2000, he took part in an exchange program with the University of Tennessee and traveled extensively around Europe and the United States. He joined Fisher Architects in early 2003 after 3 years of working on residential, historical preservation, and business projects for architects in New York and Asheville.
James I. Knight, Assoc. AIA
James received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, LA. He joined Fisher Architects in the summer of 2005. His particular interests include office, residential and commercial design. Before moving to Asheville, James resided in Franklinton, LA, just north of New Orleans.
